RESEARCH COLLABORATIONS

An active and fruitful collaboration has been established from 2022 onwards with the IUGS International Commission on Geoheritage (ICG). INHIGEO has provided its contribution for the aspects concerning the history of geosciences within the project on IUGS Geological Heritage Sites, proposing sites of geohistorical relevance, taking part to the evaluation process and contributing to the editing of the books on the First 100 and Second 100 IUGS Geological Heritage Sites. Some INHIGEO members took part to the conference / event, held on October 25-28, 2022 in Zumaia, Basque Country, Spain (https://iugs-geoheritage.org/) and to a special session within the 37 th IGC in Busan, South Korea in August 2024.

INHIGEO members presented ten of the first 200 IUGS Geological Heritage Sites selected for their importance in the development of the geological sciences (Siccar Point, Phlegrean Fields, Puy de Dôme, Giants Causeway, Agno Valley, Mt. Vesuvius, Scheibenberg, Maruia Falls, Cavansham Ferry and Llanstephan, Esmark and Tank Moraines).
